La GM 2000 va in clinica - GM 2000 goes to the clinic

Prima o poi doveva accadere. La mia montatura equatoriale, 10Micron GM 2000, dopo una dozzina di anni di servizio ha bisogno di manutenzione. Le pose dell’ultimo mese sono venute male, con stelle oblungate sebbene il grafico di tracking abbia sempre mostrato valori di RMS (root Mean Square) decenti, tea 0.1 e 0.3 pixels. Ora anche riprendendo con la corta focale del mio Takahashi FSQ 106N (530mm) non si riesce a fare più una posa degna di questo nome. Probabilmente la cinghia di trazione, o il grasso sulle ruote dentate e cos’altro sono da rivedere. Il problema è che ho dovuto smontare tutto il mio setup in osservatorio, che è una cosa complicatissima (due ottiche in parallelo con due camere ciascuna e tutta la circuiteria elettronica annessa. Ho dovuto mappare con foto e schemi tutti i collegamenti e le posizioni dei singoli accessori inoltre che il passaggio dei singoli cavi. 

E ora spero che quando rimonterò tutto non avrò problemi…

Sooner or later it had to happen. My 10Micron GM 2000 equatorial mount after a dozen years of service needs maintenance. The poses of the last month have gone wrong, with oblong stars although the tracking graph has always shown decent RMS (Root Mean Square) values, between 0.1 and 0.3 pixels. Now even shooting with the short focal length of my Takahashi FSQ 106N (530mm) you can no longer make a pose worthy of the name. Probably the traction belt, or the grease on the gear wheels and what else are to be reviewed. The problem is that I had to disassemble all my setup in the observatory, which is a very complicated thing (two optics in parallel with two cameras each and all the attached electronic circuitry). I had to map with photos and diagrams all the connections and positions of the individual accessories as well as the passage of the individual cables. And now I hope that when I reassemble everything I will have no problems ...
